Empty times
A bit more about windows
Lao Tse said that what matters about a window is not the frame, but the gap where the light gets in. He also said, ‘It’s the things you don’t do, the empty times, which give life value.’
Yesterday was my birthday and the weather was glorious, thus no Substack post got written. So I am leaving the remainder of this space blank as a gift of emptiness.

We are ever blessed by letting the natural world in through our windows, tracking the sun with southern exposure, nestled on the side of one hill to our east, and seeing it set beyond the long flank of a mountain to the west. With the branches of trees that encircle, allowing me to see warblers, wrens, creepers and chickadees (tits to you) as I sit in my study. I am so grateful.
